My yearly tradition of asking for things I can’t afford. This is my Christmas list in case I have any wealthy readers that are feeling generous. Some are expensive, and others are rare. Either way, these are the items I could not stop thinking about this year:
Vetements Bridges Sweatshirt
When I was first getting deep into fashion, I was hearing a lot about this brand called Vetements that was being run by a guy named Demna Gvasalia, who is now the creative director of Balenciaga (yikes). They were blowing up because of their $1000 tee with a photo of Snoop Dogg on the front, their collabs with DHL and Champion, and street-style photos of Kanye (yikes) wearing a logo hoodie with Lorde at Paris Fashion Week. This hoodie was part of one of their first collections and I never forgot about it. At $1,200, there was no shot I was buying at the time. You could only buy it at Barneys (RIP). I loved this hoodie the second I laid eyes on it. Images don't do it justice, it's the heaviest cotton I've ever felt. I love the cool, punk phrase and the dull red color of the garment. It reminds me of a time when fashion was honestly really simple and exciting. When I was wide-eyed and hungry to learn everything about the game. It's been a long time and I still think about this hoodie from time to time.
Kith x Cinnamon Toast Crunch Hoodie
It's not that this hoodie is too expensive to buy, it's that it is too hard to find. Kith released a Cinnamon Toast Crunch collaboration in 2018 with the likes of cereal bowls, tees, hoodies, and, of course, a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. CTC has been my favorite cereal my whole life. I usually keep a box around just in case I get a craving. These days, I don't eat a lot of it, but I like to sprinkle some over-greek yogurt in the morning.
Say what you want about Kith, but they sure know how to make a well-constructed piece of clothing. I love everything about this hoodie. From the ecru color to the branding leaning heavier towards the cereal than the clothing brand, it's everything I want in a nostalgic piece of clothing that reminds me of childhood. If you can find one of these in an L or XL, send it my way, baby.
Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar
Most people lust after Rolexes, Patek Philippe & Audemars Piguet. Like most watch geeks, I admire these brands but would prefer to do so from afar. As watches become a more popular accessory, the more they are being flooded with a questionable clientele. There's a lot of discourse surrounding the influx of tech and crypto money flooding into the watch market. They drove up the price of goods and made buying a new watch from an authorized dealer nearly impossible. The three brands I mentioned above have fallen victim to this phenomenon, so given the choice, I'd grab a different watch. Enter Vacheron Constantin, the most elegant watch in the world. This Traditionelle Perpetual Calendar has day, date, and month complications as well as an accurate moon phase. I've always found moon phase watches beautiful, and this VC is at the top of the game in terms of beauty and function. My holy grail watch changes by the day, but it is usually always a watch from Vacheron Constantin.
Set of Wassily Chairs
They can be the real thing or they can be replicas. I don't really care. I've wanted these chairs for as long as I can remember. They're classic and elegant, which is exactly the kind of vibe I want to flood my home.
Equinox yearly membership
I've wanted to work out at Equinox since I heard what it was over a decade ago. Unfortunately, I don't want to pay for it myself. I've been working out in a spare bedroom with nothing but a workout bench, a pair of adjustable dumbells, and a stationary bicycle since the start of the pandemic. Don't get me wrong, I'm really grateful that I have those things because I know not everyone has a set-up like that, but I crave convenience in a fitness club. There's no better place for luxury and convenience than Equinox. If I had a membership, I'd probably just move in. I'd be able to play basketball, do my work, have lunch and dinner, sit in a spa, take a workout class and get hot all in one place.
A trip to the San Domenico Palace AKA White Lotus Sicily
It's the best show on TV. F the haters. I mean it's one of the best shows on TV. That and Succession and maybe Fleishman is in Trouble. Well anyway, they have the best location scout in the game. This season is showing at the San Domenico Palace on the southern tip of Sicily. Do I need to even describe how gorgeous this place is? You’ve probably seen the show. It's booked for months in advance, but if you're lucky enough to get a room, it'll cost about $1,500 a night.
Bottega Veneta Crossbody Bag
The only crossbody bag I have is from Supreme. At 28 years old, I think it may be time to move on. This bag from the great Bottega Veneta is so good because it can be as loud ( if you buy in green) or as subtle (if you buy in black) as you like. Sure, $2,000 is a lot for a crossbody bag, but I appreciate the simplicity of BV's items. No big logos or patterns, just the classic Bottega Veneta weave, and top-of-the-line construction.
Floor Seats to a Laker Game
The Lebron James experience appears to be winding down soon. I need to soak up every minute of it. Someone get me to the front row of Staples Center (I'll never call my house Crypto.com Arena) so I can watch Bron vs Luka dual during a meaningless regular season game.
Lifetime Subscription to the Calm App
It's only $400 and my anxiety has been kicking my ass lately Help a brother out. I love meditating. I do it first thing in the morning almost every day and it gets my day started on the right note. I'd love to get access to all of the premium features and not have to worry about recurring charges.
